The exterior of the entrance to the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel - with its triangular roof, and tall columns and symmetry about their vertical axis - does portray a flavour of this period in European history. Once inside, guests would immediately be transported to modernity, as the West Wing of the hotel has just completed a renovation not long ago. The East Wing, on the other hand, is closed for renovations from ; from my understanding it will be rebranded into another property. Guests should thus be mindful of old reviews describing the East Wing and the pre-renovation West Wing of the hotel.

It used to be two completely separate hotels New World Hotel and Renaissance Hotel , now they both fall under the Marriott umbrella and are physically linked together, and share all facilities such as restaurants, bars, gym, pool etc. Best views are from the east wing, but the rooms in the east wing are of a lower standard than those on the west wing. You have to be on a high floor for a start, and on the back side of the hotel, not the front side. The rooms in the west wing are definitely better, more typical of a 5 star KL hotel, but they are also more expensive.
