SSU currently has 19 active chapters. The most important part about Greek life is philanthropy, each chapter organizes fundraisers in order to help a nonprofit. Throughout the year they raise money for them by helping coach running teams and volunteer at the GOTR 5k each semester. They hold an event every year called War of Roses which is a two day event where all Pi Kapps ride stationary bikes for 24 hours in order to raise money for their philanthropy. Fraternities and sororities look a little bit different here than other schools. At a typical University, the majority of the chapters live on the same street creating a community of greek life members.

Throughout our time at Sonoma State, Alpha Xi Delta has developed strong ties within our community and provided support for women and children in need. We love creating special bonds with all our sisters and look forward to creating many more memories through our time at Sonoma State University. Our Philanthropy, The Kindly Hearts Initiative, serves as the umbrella to our philanthropic focus of supporting children and teens experiencing foster care or homelessness. Alpha Xi Delta chapters across the country have the opportunity to support key impact organizations making a national or regional impact. These chapters collaborate with local organizations that provide support for children and teens experiencing homelessness.

At a typical University, the majority of the chapters live on the same street creating a community of greek life members. This is an opportunity for potential new members to visit each of our 6 affiliated fraternities and 1 local affiliated fraternity, as well as our 6 affiliated sororities and their members, meet hundreds of peers, and get acquainted with our campus. Our 2 local affiliated sororities do participate in recruitment but do not participate in the formal primary Panhellenic recruitment weekend. By participating in recruitment, you are taking the first step toward an active and enriching experience as a fraternity or sorority member.

The council is as a sounding board between member organizations and serves as a place to discuss questions of mutual interest and devise common solutions.
