Scott always found football easy and he's now finding Sumo hard, something he really has to work at. If he does, expect Hakuho to vie with Tochiazuma for second place: twelve wins. Color is used very purposefully and effectively to designate different periods in Scott's life in this slim, but tender story. And that is my only complaint with the book; I would have like to have actually learned how Sumo is played, scored, how the gracefulness despite the immense size of the participants is accounted for, it's allure, etc. It's nearly a contradiction in terms: a delicate, deft, tender tale about Overall this was a very good book and would definitely recommend it. Sumo 's entire present tense may only occur over the space of a couple days, but it's clear that Pham is putting forth a representative pericope of a whole life lived. It is NOT a high-action story. I'll also be watching M9 Yoshikaze with interest — he put on a fine show in Natsu and will want to build on that. This is a slow story. It was interesting to learn a little more about the world of Sumo. He ain't gonna be a threat to the main contenders with the possible exception of Tochiazuma, who seems to have a serious psychological block against him but we should see him pick up eight or nine wins if he keeps up the good work, with a couple of Ozeki upsets along the way. So he decides to make a drastic change, moving to Japan and joining a sumo stable.

Scott always found football easy and he's now finding Sumo hard, something he really has to work at. It's about Scott Scott was a star football player. Page numbers in orange sections are decorated by a tiny representation of the dohyo , the sumo wrestlers' ring. There was something missing, more specifically, someone, and it just wasn't quite right without him. He is quite simply the top dog, in a class of his own, so expect him to win it with thirteen or fourteen. So there you have it--a report shortened greatly by the dearth of positive things to say. He is 35 on Friday, the same age as some of my friends. It's a surprising conclusion, but effective: using a moment from Scott's past not only to guide our reading of Scott's present but of Pham's book as a whole. At Sekiwake we have the recently impressive Miyabiyama in the west slot, and the infuriatingly erratic Kotomitsuki at east. Now let me see. And finally we have one newcomer in M16 Daimanazuru. Join the discussion. We have a quite a few big storylines coming in, so let's not waste any more time with chit-chat and go straight to the hotel. If M10 Tamanoshima is not injured, he will have plenty of joy this basho as he is fighting far below his natural level.
