For many decades, we believed that comfort and speed were diametrically opposed. Cyclists were told that they had to choose: If you wanted more comfort, you gave up speed. If you wanted speed, you had to suffer. The cycling world was split into fast, but uncomfortable, race bikes and slow, but comfortable, touring bikes.
