Day of the challenge! Someone needs to explain what I'm missing here, because The Hills Have Eyes did not live up to it's cult status. I understand that it's a product of it's time. Anytime I watch an older film especially those that don't age well , I try to judge it based on it's own merit and not on what I expect from modern movies. Even with that mind set, I found The Hills Have Eyes to be a completely boring and uninteresting slog. There's no sense of atmosphere to be found anywhere in the film, and the pacing is almost unbearable. That's something coming from a guy that loves slow burning films. It's a movie with 3 or 4 set pieces stitched together with about an hour of desert b-roll in between them all. I get the appeal of exploitation horror films, but I don't like shock value just for the sake of shock value. There has to be some emotional connection to at least some of the characters for me to be fully engaged, and that just didn't happen here. Mutant cannibals from the hills terrorizing unlucky roadtrippers is an interesting premise for sure, but not if it's cheaply put together with an uninteresting plot and characters. If you can enjoy shock value without needing anything else, The Hills Have Eyes is for you. Welcome Professional Portfolio More.

Being the mate of Hades was never the easiest thing in the world. Firstly, because you had only been his mate for a few years, after you stumbled into the mines. IN the beginning, you had been chained up, but you always slipped away. He never found you running or hiding, just wondering. You were so interesting to him, that he became fond of you. If you wondered too far or stepped out of line, you could be hit or slapped. But Chameleon tried not to let that happen to you.

The film follows the Carters, a suburban family targeted by a family of cannibal savages after becoming stranded in the Nevada desert. Following Craven's directorial debut, The Last House on the Left , producer Peter Locke was interested in financing a similar project. Craven based the film's script on the legend of Scottish cannibal Sawney Bean , which Craven viewed as illustrating how supposedly civilized people could become savage. The film's crew were initially unenthusiastic about the project, but they became more passionate due to Craven's enthusiasm and came to believe that they were making a special movie. All subsequent films in the series were made with Craven's involvement. Reviews for the film were mostly positive, with critics praising its tense narrative and humor. Some critics have interpreted the film as containing commentary on morality and American politics, and the film has since become a cult classic.
