The new school gives greater facilities to its students, which frees up the original school site on Winbourne Street to provide for the needs of the wider community. The new facility is expected to be a valuable community asset delivering more recreation space for local residents and athletes. What is being delivered? The project will deliver a new 5,sqm indoor courts facility with 4 multipurpose courts, 29 outdoor netball courts, landscaping and communal outdoor areas, and car and bicycle parking. The department and council are committed to providing high-quality, inclusive, safe, inviting and well-maintained recreation facilities that are sustainably managed for the benefit of the community. Will the facility include adequate car parking for visitors? We are working with the City of Ryde Council to ensure this facility meets the parking needs of visitors without impacting nearby residents and neighbours. Following consultation with the community, we moved the car park location 2. This resulted in the need to remove 1 car space from the design. The current design includes car spaces, however at the same time we have reduced the outdoor courts from 32 to 29, which reduces car parking demand and traffic impacts. Any issues, such as parking, that have the potential to impact on neighbouring residents were considered and documented within a Statement of Environmental Effects SEE. All submissions made by the public during the DA exhibition period were summarised by Council and addressed by the project team as part of the DA re-exhibition in July and August

The Program investment will revive sport facilities by providing new and redeveloping existing sport facility bathrooms and change rooms. Funding will also support the provision of new and upgraded lighting that will enable more women and girls to train and compete in sport in a safe and inclusive environment. The Program will support quality projects that meet community need demonstrated by consultation with women and girls to deliver a quality facility that makes women and girls feel safe, welcome and included.
