Way back when, well, at least a decade ago, nearly all camper trailers were fully manufactured in Australia. That has changed greatly over the years, with many shifting to full Chinese manufacture. However, a large number of importers and manufacturers like Brisbane-based Wild Boar have discovered the benefits of manufacturing some of the major components in China and having some of the assembly work done here in Australia. Proprietor Paul Burton is a spray painter by profession, so all his camper trailers come with a top-class paint job and there are certainly some stunning, eye-catching colours available. Wild Boar has several camper trailer designs available, among them a rear-fold and an unusual rooftop camper but, for this review, I opted for the Razorback Forward Fold. Above the chassis, the inner frame and body sheet panels are also galvanised.

What first grabbed my attention in the Wild Boar range was the scarlet model on display at a caravan and camping show I attended. So it came as no surprise to discover that Wild Boar proprietor Paul Burton is a painter by profession, and runs a full blown paint shop on the premises. Wild Boar describes the Forward Folding Camper as an offroad trailer, fitting it with 16in alloy wheels that ride on fully independent suspension with coil springs, twin shock absorbers and trailing arms. A look under the camper reveals corner stabilisers fitted all round and a well-strapped-up L stainless steel water tank with extra alloy checkerplate protection. The business end features an extended drawbar with polyblock coupling, handbrake and jockey wheel. That pulls the main 15oz canvas roof and walls into position, along with the tropical roof. We left it open for the photoshoot, but comes with a full set of walls.
