For takeout, we've found that Grand Wok on Kempton Street has the best flavors — ordered by accident once when I thought we were picking up from China Star across the street, which was embarrassing when I showed up and demanded my order we later ordered properly from China Star and the mixup proved fortuitous. Anyway, we'd had Ying Dynasty in Mattapoisett and Dartmouth before and been intrigued, so on a recent Monday evening we ventured up Route 18 to the newest location in the far North End. It turned out to be a pleasant experience, one of the most aesthetically pleasing Chinese places in the area with a backbone of recognizable dishes that varied from average to arresting. The restaurant, in a mostly residential neighborhood, is in the first floor of a house, with ample parking in the back. Inside, the place is nicely appointed with a mix of mahogany and other woods, giving it a clean and modern look.
